Stephen Taylor
Creator & Developer
I'm a developer who believes that financial tools should empower people, not exploit them. After spending years watching friends and family struggle with opaque financial products and ad-laden calculators, I decided to build something different.
Calculators.money is part of a suite of privacy-first tools I've created, including PDF Pony for document editing, Statistics.tools for data analysis, and GIS.tools for mapping. Each follows the same philosophy: powerful functionality, complete privacy, zero cost.
Beyond software, I serve as President of the Canadian Freedom Institute, a charity dedicated to free market education. I believe financial literacy is a cornerstone of individual freedom β understanding compound interest, tax implications, and investment returns gives people the power to make informed decisions about their own lives.
When I'm not building calculators, I'm probably using them β running numbers on whether that rental property actually makes sense, or figuring out if I'm saving enough for retirement. These tools exist because I needed them myself.
How It Works
Calculators.money is built as a static web application using React. When you visit a calculator, all the code runs directly in your browser β there's no server processing your data.
We use decimal.js for precise financial calculations, avoiding the floating-point errors that can occur with standard JavaScript numbers. This ensures accurate results for everything from simple interest to complex amortization schedules.
Your favorites and preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage β never on our servers. If you clear your browser data, these settings will be reset, but we have no way to recover them because we never had them.
We use Google Analytics to understand which calculators are most useful and how people find the site. This tracks page visits and general usage patterns, but never the actual numbers you enter into calculators β those stay entirely in your browser.
